Garden railway at Croatian Railway Museum

Garden railway at Croatian Railway Museum

A ride on the garden railway, organized by the Croatian Association of  Narrow-Gauge Railway Fans, will take place every Saturday and Sunday from 3.00 to 7.00 pm (except on Dec 24 and 31).

Garden railway is a model railway set up outdoors, which can transport people. The vehicles are made as models, or small-size replicas of actual track vehicles, mostly at the following scales: 1:3.2, 1:4, 1:6, 1:8 and 1:11, or as vehicles especially built for the garden railway.

Garden railway is actually a smaller size “real” railway, which is based upon the same technical principles. The garden railway tracks were set up at the Croatian Railway Museum in 2017, and are 170 m long; the train path has 4 turnouts and 2 auxiliary deviations.

It was constructed as a prefabricated exhibition structure with 3 rails, which form two standard gauges of 124 and 184 mm.

Mr. Branko Kovač from Vir pri Domžalah in Slovenia donated the railway line to the Croatian Railway Museum, and rides on the garden railway will be organized by Dražen Bijelić and Željko Halambek from the Croatian Association of Narrow-Gauge Railway Fans. During the garden railway rides, there will be other railway vehicle models from Slovenia and surprise guests on rails.
